Mikel Arteta's Leeds United praise with Arsenal win and Elland Road verdict plus Bukayo Saka injury update
Mikel Arteta saw his side beat Leeds United by a comfortable margin for the second time this season at Elland Road.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta served up Leeds United praise with his verdict on Daniel Farke’s Whites and Elland Road but ultimately his side’s 4-0 victory there.
Arteta’s title-chasing side lined up for Saturday’s Premier League clash at LS11 sat four points clear at the top of the table but having gone three league games without a win after draws against Liverpool and Nottingham Forest were followed by last weekend’s defeat to Manchester United.
Arsenal were then dealt another blow in the warm up in which Bukayo Saka became injured, leading to a very late change as Noni Madueke took his place.
Madueke, though, ultimately sent in the crosses that led to Arsenal’s first two goals in a 4-0 victory for a result which Ateta was particularly pleased with given the opposition in praise for Farke’s Whites and the “energy” created inside Elland Road.
Speaking post match, Arteta was pressed on the result being just a third league loss of the season for Leeds and how pleased he was with that.
"Very, very happy obviously,” said Arteta.
"A very impressive performance, a very impressive result and in the context that we have done it.
“The energy that that stadium brings”
"We knew about the difficulty of the game and the opponent that were facing with the recent form and the style of play that they have at the moment, the energy that that stadium brings.
"And then the fact that the three results didn't go our way in the league.
"We really wanted to show how much we wanted it and I think we certainly did that today."
Asked what had happened with Saka, Arteta explained: "In the warm up he had a little niggle.
"He wasn't comfortable to start the game so immediately we made a decision to make that change and bring Noni in and he was ready because you cannot do that in two minutes, the way he prepares, the way he is waiting for an opportunity.
"I think it paid off today because he really impacted the team"
