Leeds United vs Newcastle United confirmed team news, goals & live updates from Elland Road

Build-up, team news and live updates from Elland Road as Leeds United host Newcastle in the Premier League.

Leeds United are back on home turf this evening when they welcome Newcastle United to Elland Road.

Daniel Farke’s side remain unbeaten from three games in the league and will be desperate to put their 6-3 midweek Carabao Cup defeat at Chelsea behind them. The Whites were 2-0 up early in the second-half at Stamford Bridge but contrived to concede four goals in just 12 minutes.

Leeds will hope that proves to be an anomaly of the season, with only two goals conceded across the four games prior in all competitions. Farke’s side have shown a lot of positive signs so far, their most recent league outing being a 1-1 draw at Brighton they could feasibly have won, had chances been taken.

Farke will be without Joe Rodon again tonight, the Welsh defender out for around two months with a serious hamstring injury. Ilia Gruev is also yet to make a matchday squad this season but otherwise, Leeds have a relatively strong available group.

A number of changes made in midweek are likely to be reversed, with none on the fringes staking a claim for more Premier League starts. The likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Noah Okafor, James Trafford and Jayden Bogle are all expected to return to the starting line-up.

With Michael Zetterer and Melvin Bard featuring on Wednesday, there is only one more new signing awaiting his debut in the form of Jean-Matteo Bahoya. The 21-year-old winger will hope to at least come off the bench and experience that famous Elland Road atmosphere himself.

Visitors Newcastle look set to be without a handful of first-team players, with £30m right-back signing Amar Dedic a major doubt after suffering a hamstring injury against Millwall in midweek. Joelinton, Dan Burn and William Osula are all expected to miss out.

It’s likely to be a high-intensity clash tonight with Leeds aggressive in front of their own crowd and Newcastle deadly on the counter-attack. It’s also the first night game under the Elland Road lights this season, which is sure to add to the atmosphere.

Stay tuned for build-up, team news and live updates throughout the night...
