Leeds United star reveals new 'personal' documentary on his journey to Premier League dream
One of Leeds United’s current squad members is the subject of a ‘very personal’ documentary due to air this month, following his journey to the Premier League.
Anton Stach has become a firm fan favourite at Leeds United for his on and off-field antics since signing from Bundesliga side Hoffenheim last summer. The 6ft 4ins midfielder is a goalscorer, a free-kick specialist and a YouTuber, with his own channel for quirky videos and street interviews. Stach had a stellar debut campaign in the English top flight and returned to the German national team set-up in March, but missed out on a spot in the World Cup squad after picking up an injury at the end of the season.
The 27-year-old has revealed that a ‘very personal’ documentary has been made to track his journey to the Premier League and back into the Germany team. He said: “Some dreams begin on the playground. My dream took me all the way to the Premier League and the German national team. Along the way, a very personal documentary was created.
“About family, passion, and the people who have supported me throughout my journey. If you only know me as a football player, you don’t know the whole story yet. This documentary offers an honest look behind the scenes of my journey. I’d love for you to tune in and share the film if you enjoy it.”.
Stach ended his social media announcement with a get-well message for Germany’s stricken World Cup squad member Nico Schlotterbeck who has been ruled out of the rest of the tournament with an ankle injury that will sideline him for several months. The pair played seven times together for their country at Under 21 and senior level.
The documentary, titled ‘ANTON STACH – Just a Normal Way to the Top,’ will first be broadcast on June 29 on German channel DF1. It will also be available on SPORTDIGITAL Fussball and SPORTEUROPE.TV.
