Leeds United man in potential sibling clash as Whites' bitter rivals make transfer enquiry

One of Leeds United's 2025 signings could be on a trans-Pennine family collision course as Manchester United reportedly circle his brother.

Lukas Nmecha was the first new man through the door last summer, signed on a free transfer after departing Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga. Nmecha, like Dominic Calvert-Lewin, proved to be an astute piece of business for Leeds. The Whites prided themselves on spotting and taking advantage of 'market opportunities' like the free agent strikers who combined for 20 Premier League goals between them. Nmecha accounted for six of those.

The 27-year-old could be in for an even more interesting second season at Elland Road, with reports that his brother is on the radar of Leeds' bitter rivals Manchester United. Felix Nmecha played 42 times for Borussia Dortmund last season in midfield and though he signed a contract extension to 2030 back in March, The Athletic report that Manchester United have made enquiries about him in this summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old was part of the Germany squad who were knocked out of the World Cup in the round of 32 by Paraguay after a dramatic penalty shoot-out this week. Nmecha started each of Germany's games in the middle of the park, scoring and assisting in the 7-1 rout of Curacao and setting up a goal in the 2-1 win over Ivory Coast.

The Nmecha brothers began their careers with Manchester City and were then reunited at Wolfsburg in 2021, before Felix departed for Borussia Dortmund in 2023. They twice found themselves on opposing sides in Bundesliga fixtures, with the younger sibling and Borussia Dortmund coming out on top in both. In total they have played 28 times together in their careers since their Manchester City youth days.
