"Shattered" - Leeds United fans in complete agreement on Norwich City FA Cup clash and exempt Whites pair

Leeds United’s fans have had their say on Sunday’s FA Cup clash at home to Norwich City.

Leeds United take a break from the club’s quest for Premier League survival with Sunday’s fifth round FA Cup clash at home to Norwich City - ahead of which the club’s fans are in complete agreement.

Here is what our YEP Jury have had to say on tomorrow’s visit of the Canaries including a clean sweep agreement on the predictions front and thoughts on the only two Leeds players who look capable of creating something in Tuesday’s defeat to Sunderland.

NEIL GREWER

Following the horrible game on Tuesday and the last two games with more ‘dark arts’ than Black Sabbath, hopefully Leeds United will return to winning ways against Norwich City in the fifth round of the FA Cup and keep alive hopes of an appearance at Wembley.

Perhaps victory against Sunderland would have encouraged Daniel Farke to be less protective of key first-team regulars on Sunday, but I suspect this will not be the case and the team and formation will be similar to the Birmingham City game.

Few of the starters at Birmingham impressed and they will need to be better against Norwich but hopefully Farke has learned from the last Cup game and can adapt accordingly.

I expect Lucas Perri to start again, and he will be keen to keep a clean sheet – something which seems to elude Leeds this season.

Norwich have seen an upturn in form in recent weeks but will trouble neither the top six or the bottom three and as such, will see the Cup as an opportunity to give their season some positivity.

Prediction: Leeds United 3 Norwich City 1.

“Some looked shattered”

ANDY RHODES

With Leeds United’s league worries growing over the past week, the FA Cup might provide a welcome distraction.

Norwich City are a club that Daniel Farke knows well, but after back-to-back defeats, he will want a win more than ever. The Cup also gives him the chance to rest key players.

Some looked shattered at half-time in the Manchester City game, so to field an unchanged XI three days later raised some eyebrows.

In truth, none of those who started Tuesday’s game looked like their normal selves, and only Willy Gnonto and Anton Stach looked capable of creating something.

The Norwich game will be no easy task, but Leeds will want to progress.

But with the sides below them picking up points in midweek, Farke may keep his key players on the bench for longer than he may like against the Championship side.

As nice as a fairytale run in the FA Cup would be, Leeds have bigger priorities.

Prediction: Leeds United 2 Norwich City 0.

“Not another 90 minutes of time-wasting and injury feigning”

DAVID WATKINS

On balance, I guess it’s a good thing we have the FA Cup fifth round game against Norwich City this weekend, a chance to step away from the pressure of a relegation battle and to get minutes into the legs of the fringe players in the hope it helps us in the EPL run-in.

It has been a sobering week; our cushion to the relegation zone halved to just three points.

So, yes, let’s enjoy the match against Norwich and hope we see some football and not another 90 minutes of time-wasting and injury feigning like we were treated to on Tuesday night.

It would be nice to get the odd lucky break too.

I’m guessing we’ll see a starting XI similar to the one from the Birmingham City game, the usual subs and a few regular starters.

There is no pressure. If we play the fringe players, there is obviously a fair chance that a full-strength Norwich, should they decide to go that way, could win.

Norwich are on a great run – winning nine of their most recent 11 games and, because it’s the Cup and because of the likely team changes, I think it will be close, but I’m hoping we get a morale-boosting win.

Prediction: Leeds United 2 Norwich City 1.

“Why not put your best XI out?”

KEITH INGHAM

The worst thing that could happen did on Tuesday night as Sunderland grabbed a 1-0 win at Elland Road thanks to a penalty from Habib Diarra.

Attention now switches from the Premier League to the FA Cup on Sunday tea time – 4.30pm kick off against Daniel Farke’s previous club Norwich City. A club that, after a change of manager, has seen their results improve superbly since the change. They have only one defeat in their last six games.

It depends how high Leeds see progress in the scheme of things. Both the owners and Farke want to go as far as the fans obviously do.

They are two games from a Wembley semi-final and this is the furthest the club has got to since the early 2000s.

If Farke has a fully fit squad he may change one or two of the team that started against Sunderland but I’m not sure there will be as many changes as in previous rounds.

It’s a big game and why not put your best XI out as they don’t play Palace away for a full seven days?

I was very confident that Leeds would progress before the Sunderland game but I’m a little worried that if that performance is repeated, a shock might just end this season’s Cup run. It’s up to the players on duty to prove me wrong.

Prediction: Leeds United 2 Norwich City 1.

“You would expect to be better than most in the Championship”

MIKE GILL

After the unsatisfactory encounter with nasty, niggly, negative Sunderland and the fact that the results of fellow strugglers were not helpful, the Whites will welcome the less pressurised atmosphere of an FA Cup tie.

Although their results have improved lately, Norwich City sit in 17th place in the Championship, 12 points away from a play-off place.

They will also be looking forward to this game as a good Cup run is now all they have left to play for.

They arrive at round five after wins against Walsall and West Bromwich Albion, so this will be their toughest test.

For United this is a golden opportunity to give starts to several fringe players and yet field a side that you would expect to be better than most in the Championship.

Previous rounds have shown that even when the Whites start with a really strong side, they often struggle to find their rhythm.

But as this is their first tie at Elland Road this season, you would hope that they can hit the ground running and give the fans a treat.

That said, you can be sure that this match will be very competitive and a tough challenge.

Prediction: Leeds United 2 Norwich City 0.
