Leeds United pre-game shove, Tanaka litter pick and off-camera FA Cup moments vs Norwich City

The YEP’s take and off-camera moments from Leeds United’s 3-0 victory against Norwich City in the FA Cup fifth round.

Leeds United booked their place in the FA Cup quarter-finals with Sunday’s 3-0 victory against Norwich City at Elland Road. Here’s the YEP’s take with off-camera moments from a good evening all round at LS11.

Good day

Gabriel Gudmundsson

The Swede will become a father in the summer and he picked a good time to mark the upcoming birth with his first ever Leeds United goal. Remarkably, he also picked up his first Leeds assist in the same game. It was a superb performance in general by Gudmundsson, who was unplayable for Norwich and solid at the back too.

Jaka Bijol

The centre-back is knocking on the door of a recall to the starting line-up in the Premier League. This was exactly the performance he needed. He defends his box so well but what he did on the ball should not be underestimated. And his wanderlust was fun to watch too. At one point in the first half he crashed the box like a number 8.

Joel Piroe

We've seen this kind of performance from Piroe so many times. In and out of the game, sometimes a factor, sometimes not and then up he pops with a beautiful, clinical finish. And he came so close to scoring twice. Having not eaten or drunk in the hours of daylight, it was pretty impressive to have the energy he displayed.

Lucas Perri

Another step in the right direction for the big Brazilian, who wasn't overly tested but was solid in everything Leeds needed him to do. His distribution was fine. The clean sheet will do him the world of good.

Bad day

Sebastiaan Bornauw

The big centre-back looked uncomfortable out on the right when Leeds had possession, which was often. It isn't a role he's hugely suited to. He was taken off at half-time. The defender later revealed he had been playing despite not feeling 100 per cent in the days leading up to the game.

Off-camera moments

Noah Okafor, resplendent in a pink jacket, heading down to the corner of West Stand and Kop to pose for photos with a group of supporters.

Lukas Nmecha bouncing over to Joleon Lescott, who was on TNT duties pitchside, for a cuddle.

Ao Tanaka doing some litter picking as papers blew off the TNT pitchside desk onto the playing surface, handing it back to one of the broadcaster's employees.

‘Plagued by some winged insect’

Tanaka flicking the ball smoothly through the legs of Nmecha during the possession game only for the striker to respond by shoving his colleague to the ground, off the pitch and almost into a camera. The Japan international saw the funny side.

Sean Longstaff being plagued by some winged insect as he awaited his turn to take a shot in the warm-up.

TNT pundit Jermaine Beckford welcoming the Leeds backroom staff to the dugout with hugs, then non-playing squad member Illan Meslier.

Philippe Clement rollicking substitute Forson Amankwah, presumably for the intensity of his warm up on the touchline.

Gabriel Gudmundsson bleeding through his sock from the toes on his left foot and bleeding through his right sock at the shin as he did media duty in the mixed zone.
