Leeds United overcame a brief scare to book their place in the FA Cup fourth round over the weekend with a 3-1 comeback win over Derby County. Second-half goals from Willy Gnonto, Ao Tanaka and James Justin capped off a professional performance with focus quickly turning back onto the Premier League and Fulham at home on Saturday.
Defeat at Newcastle United last week saw Leeds’ seven-match unbeaten streak come to a dramatic end but that very run has boosted their survival chances massively. Daniel Farke’s side were in the bottom three heading into their 3-1 win over Chelsea and despite losing at St James’ Park, now sit eight points clear of West Ham in 18th.
They also have another team between themselves and the drop zone, with Nottingham Forest unable to improve under their third manager of the season in Sean Dyche. And ahead of the return of Premier League football this weekend, Opta have updated their final table predictions with the current picture looking very healthy for Leeds.
