Two Leeds United Premier League fixture changes confirmed but Newcastle clash could be moved again

The Premier League have confirmed some Leeds United fixture changes for August nd September.

Leeds United’s first two home games of the season against Brentford and Newcastle United have been moved after being picked for television broadcast.

Daniel Farke’s side welcome Brentford to Elland Road for their second game of the 2026/27 campaign, which has been pushed back. The Premier League have confirmed the clash will kick-off at 2pm on Sunday August 30, having been picked for broadcast by Sky Sports.

The Brentford game will clash with this year’s Leeds Festival which takes place at Bramham Park between Thursday August 27 and Sunday August 30. It is one of three fixtures live on Sky Sports at the same time, alongside Chelsea vs Brighton and Sunderland vs Fulham.

Leeds’ September starts with a trip to Brighton and Hove Albion which, like Nottingham Forest in the opening-weekend, remains a Saturday 3pm kick-off. The Whites then host Newcastle United in another Elland Road game that’s been selected by Sky Sports.

That meeting is now scheduled to kick-off at 8pm on Monday September 14, making it the first game of 2026/27 to be played under the Elland Road lights. However, the date and time of that fixture could still change again.

Should either Leeds or Newcastle qualify for the third round of the Carabao Cup and be drawn against a side playing Champions League football, the fixture would move back to a 12.30pm kick-off on Saturday September 12. There will be five Premier League teams competing in Europe’s top competition.

The second round of the Carabao Cup - at which point Leeds enter - is due to take place during the week commencing August 24. With the draw likely to come after all games are played, any further change to the Newcastle game could be made at around two week’s notice.
