Leeds United relegation rivals hit by mystery injuries ahead of midweek Premier League clash
Leeds United's relegation rivals West Ham United have been hit by mystery injuries ahead of Tuesday night's Premier League fixtures.
While Leeds will be in London taking on Chelsea, across the city the Hammers will be hosting Manchester United. Leeds currently hold a six-point lead over Nuno's West Ham who sit 18th in the top flight. West Ham have hit form of late, earning half of their six 2025/26 league victories in the last four games. Tottenham Hotspur, Sunderland and Burnley all fell to defeats against the Hammers, who went two goals up at Chelsea only to suffer a 3-2 defeat and spoil that run.
Central to their upturn in fortunes has been the man they bought from Leeds for £40m in the summer of 2024, Crysencio Summerville. The Dutch winger has scored a goal in each of his last five outings. Two of his four assists this season have come in the last six games.
But Hammers fans have been left sweating over the fitness of Summerville and all their key players after Nuno confirmed they will be without some of them against Manchester United. Callum Wilson, El Hadji Malick Diouf, Valentin Castellanos. Jarrod Bowen and Summerville were all taken off by Nuno during their weekend win at Turf Moor. But he has refused to identify the player or players who have picked up injuries.
Speaking on Monday he said: "Unfortunately we’re going to have some players out. It is what it is, but I’m not going to say who it is.”
West Ham are already without Jean-Clair Todibo who will be serving the second of his three-match suspension for being shown a red card in the London derby with Chelsea. Todibo was sent off for violent conduct during a late skirmish.
