Leeds United rivals fielding £16m interest in star man as Boro make key transfer decision

A round-up of the latest Championship transfer news as Leeds United’s rivals complete business

The summer transfer rumour mill is in full swing and as the weeks tick by squads are starting to take shape in the Championship. Leeds United have offloaded three players this week, with Sonny Perkins and Marc Roca following Jack Harrison out of the Elland Road exit door and fans will be hoping it won't be too long before the club secure their first signings of the summer.

Plenty of deals have already gone through across the Championship and here's a round-up of some of the latest transfer news.

Pompey edge towards fifth signing

Portsmouth are wasting no time this summer as they push to ensure they are ready for the rigours of the Championship. The club have already secured Josh Murphy, Jordan Archer, Jordan Williams and Reuben Swann this summer and it seems they are closing in on a fifth recruit.

According to Will Unwin of the Guardian, Portsmouth are set to sign Sam Silvera from Middlesbrough on loan for the upcoming campaign. The Australian played 37 league games for Boro last time around but it seems the club have been willing to loan him to Portsmouth as the Australian continues to adapt to life in the Championship.

He could be set to play at key role for the Championship newcomers and he may well make his debut for the club on the opening day of the season against Leeds United.

Philogene interest builds

Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are ready to challenge Barcelona for the signing of Hull City man Jaden Philogene. That's according to Football Insider, who suggest that while Tottenham's interest is 'concrete', West Ham have opened preliminary talks to sign the 22-year-old.

Hull only signed the winger last summer, bagging him in a deal thought to be worth around £5m from Aston Villa. He recorded 12 goals and six assists for the Tigers over the course of the season and his form was one of the major reasons why the club found themselves pushing for a play-off spot last season.

Ultimately, the report claims Hull are bracing themselves for Philogene's departure this summer but the club are unlikely to consider bids that fall beneath their valuation of the player. Everton are also said to be keen on a deal for Philogene, with a Daily Mail report claiming the Toffees could be set to offer £16m.

Derby win transfer battle

Derby County look set to secure the signing of Jerry Yates from Swansea City on a loan deal for the season. That's according to Wales Online, with Swansea's joint-top scorer last season ready to make the switch to Pride Park despite joining the Welsh outfit last summer for a fee of £2.5m.

A host of Championship clubs were said to be keen on Yates but Derby are said to be the side that has won out in the race to sign the forward.
