Decision taken on Leeds United youth international after impressing for loan side

A decision has been taken on a Leeds United youth international after impressing on loan.

Young Leeds United keeper Rory Mahady has extended his loan spell with a National League side for a further four weeks.

Mahady - who was named in the division’s Team of the Week for that display - then did not feature for the Iron’s next five games but the decision was still taken to extend the 19-year-old’s youth loan with Andy Butler’s high-flying side.

Mahady was then back in the side for the FA Cup clash at Blackpool at the start of November and the Leeds loanee has since been ever-present between the sticks since, playing every minute of every game.

“We will be monitoring his progress closely”

Mahady took the club’s player of the month award for November and the teenage stopper has now seen his loan spell extended by another four weeks.

A Leeds United statement read: “Leeds United can confirm Academy goalkeeper Rory Mahady has extended his loan spell at Scunthorpe United for four further weeks.

“The Scotland Under-21 international has enjoyed a very productive stint with the Lincolnshire outfit so far, gaining valuable experience as he continues his development.

“The 19-year-old has featured eight times in the Enterprise National League for the Iron and also made his FA Cup debut, impressing in a clash with Sky Bet League One side Blackpool away from home.

“Everyone at Leeds United would like to wish Rory well during his time at the Attis Arena and we will be monitoring his progress closely.”

Scunthorpe sit sixth in the National League table, comfortably in the division’s play-off places and only four points behind leaders Boreham Wood.
