"You don't" - Star makes Leeds United fans declaration following move to Elland Road with 'grow' aim
A star has made a Leeds United fans admission following his move to Elland Road.
Sean Longstaff is now one year into life as a Leeds United player - but only now is the sheer magnitude of the club and fanbase really hitting home.
Longstaff ended his 18-year association with boyhood club Newcastle United when joining the Whites last summer, the midfielder then making 28 appearances in his first season for Leeds to help the club to Premier League safety and an FA Cup semi final.
The 28-year-old has now been quick to impress this summer, Longstaff impressing in the club’s first friendly against Wrexham as part of the club’s pre-season tour of America.
Fans were quick to praise Longstaff’s display and the feeling is mutual with the midfielder admitting he has been surprised by the sheer magnitude of following for the club even out in the USA.
Longstaff says it is only now really sinking in just how big Leeds United Football Club really is - the Whites star declaring that is now down to United’s players to grow that following even more.
Speaking to LUTV, Longstaff was asked what he though to the Leeds fan base in the States and if he was surprised.
“You don't realise how big it is and how many fans there are”
Longstaff admitted: “I was surprised.
"With still being relatively new here, you know it's a massive club.
"But until you go away to different countries you don't realise how big it is and how many fans there are.
"Whether it's in Tampa Bay, New York, wherever you are going, there's so many fans, Chicago as well.
"I've never been to Chicago so I am really looking forward to that and seeing how many people will be out.
"I think it just shows how big the club is and how lucky we are to be representing it at the minute and the better we can do the bigger it will grow as well so it's really exciting for everyone."
