The countdown continues to Leeds United’s second season back in the Premier League - ahead of which the bookies have made a fresh Whites call in their new predicted final table.
Leeds and also Sunderland are both now preparing for their second season back in the country’s top division having bucked the recent trend of newly promoted teams going straight back down - unlike Burnley.
The Clarets, Wolves and West Ham are now all heading for the Championship, from which last season’s champions Coventry City, runners-up Ipswich Town and play-off winners Hull City are all coming up.
Leeds finished 14th and eight points clear of the drop zone in their first season back in the country’s top division but chairman Paraag Marathe has been quick to signal a warning that a club’s second season back in the big time can often prove even more difficult.
Sunderland face the same situation and will also have Europa League football to deal with after last season’s brilliant seventh-placed finish.
Leeds finished just two points behind Everton and Newcastle United last season and two points ahead of Crystal Palace, three ahead of Nottingham Forest and six clear of fourth-bottom Tottenham Hotspur who avoided the drop on a dramatic final day.
There are now six weeks until the new season starts, ahead of which the bookies have made a string fresh Whites call in their new predicted final table based on the latest odds. Here, in reverse order, is how they have the final table looking.
