Regis Le Bris refutes Sunderland concern suggestion for Leeds United visit amid Wolves comparison stat

Boss Regis Le Bris has played down a Sunderland issue ahead of Leeds United’s visit.

Black Cats boss Regis Le Bris insists there is no concern about a Sunderland scoring issue ahead of Leeds United’s visit despite a Wolves comparison stat.

Newly-promoted pair Sunderland and Leeds will finally lock horns for the first time this season in Sunday’s 2pm kick-off at the Stadium of Light, ahead of which the two teams are at opposite ends of the Premier League table.

Sunderland are flying high in seventh place after an extremely impressive first half to the campaign whereas Daniel Farke’s Whites are fifth-bottom, albeit after a strong recent run themselves of eight points from their last possible 12.

Sunderland are also one of just two remaining Premier League sides yet to lose at home along with Arsenal but the Black Cats have struggled for goals of late, scoring just twice in their last four games.

Only bottom of the table Wolves can match that - but Le Bris says his side are working on a “progressive process” and is not worried by that particular stat.

"I'm not worried about this part”

Asked if that was a cause for concern or something to work extra on, Le Bris said: “It's a progressive process.

"If you think about foundations, often you start with the defensive shape, then you work on your build-up, the progressive phase and then you finish in the final third.

"I think now we have a better control of the ball and we are more confident like we did at Brighton for example to build up under pressure against a strong press.

"Now we have to fine tune this last part and it's sometimes a question of corrective behaviours but it's also a question of confidence or game time.

"It's not the easiest part but I'm not worried about this part."

Pressed on his men being one game away from going into the new year unbeaten at home, Le Bris smiled: “It's fragile.

"But it's a good place to play because we feel our fans and probably the opponent now starts to feel this challenge as well.

"I don't know if they fear the place but at least they feel that we are strong and maybe they can manage different plans to find a solution."
