Leeds United vs Sunderland recap: Lukas Nmecha goal hands Whites 1-0 win as Tarik Muharemovic shines
Leeds United are back in pre-season action this evening against Premier League rivals Sunderland.
Leeds United’s pre-season tour of the US takes them to New Jersey tonight where they will face Premier League rivals Sunderland.
Daniel Farke’s side kicked off their summer schedule with a 3-2 defeat against Championship outfit Wrexham last weekend. Joel Piroe and Sean Longstaff were on target for a much-changed Whites outfit still without a handful of key players.
World Cup participants Noah Okafor, Gabriel Gudmundsson and Brenden Aaronson all sat out the pre-season opener while Ao Tanaka did feature. Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Jaka Bijol and Sebastiaan Bornauw were all absent with minor fitness issues.

There was no place in the team for summer signing Tarik Muharemovic but fellow new arrival Harry Wilson did get an unofficial debut off the bench. Leeds will hope to welcome back a few of those aforementioned faces tonight, although not Okafor who has been given an extended break.
Leeds will be keen to get an early-summer win under their belts after losing against a Wrexham side further along in their pre-season preparations. Sunderland also lost their opening US tour match 4-2 against Liverpool in Nashville on Saturday.
The Whites had a difficult time against their upcoming opponents in the Premier League last season, taking one point from four on offer. Farke’s side came from behind to draw 1-1 at the Stadium of Light in December, scoring a beautiful team goal which involved every player, before losing 1-0 at Elland Road in March.
Kick-off at the Sports Illustrated Stadium is at 7.30pm Eastern US time and with the UK five hours ahead, the action gets underway at 12.30am for Leeds-based viewers.
