Premier League boss comments on £34m Leeds United transfer as Daniel Farke fit analysed

Leeds United snapped up the £34million transfer of Tarik Muharemovic last week.

Leeds United’s £34million signing of centre-back Tarik Muharemovic has been backed as good business by the manager of a Premier League rival.

Muharemovic’s move from Sassuolo to Leeds was confirmed last week with the 23-year-old signing a five -year contract at Elland Road. The Whites committed to spending their second-highest ever fee on the Bosnia and Herzegovina international to swiftly fill the gap left by outgoing Pascal Struijk.

Hull City boss Sergej Jakirovic will no doubt have spent the early summer weeks watching Muharemovic play for his native Bosnia, who progressed to the last-32 before defeat by the USA. And he expects the powerhouse centre-back to be a good fit for Daniel Farke’s physicality-focused squad.

“He's a very good player,” Jakirovic told The Yorkshire Post. “He had a very good season in Sassuolo. There was a lot of interest about him from a lot of big names. He's a left-footed centre-back, a national team player, and Bosnia has played a good World Cup.

“It will be a good profile for Leeds. He grew up in Austria so he speaks German and they [Leeds] have coaches from Germany. so I think he will adapt very well.”

Leeds fans might have to wait a little longer before seeing Muharemovic in action, with the defender’s post-World Cup holiday resumed following a trip to Elland Road last week. The Bosnian is likely to report for pre-season mid-way through the US tour.

Jakirovic will have a while longer to wait before coming up against compatriot Muharemovic. Leeds don’t head to the MKM Stadium until December 30 while Hull are due at Elland Road on March 3.

What has Tarik Muharemovic said on his Leeds United transfer?

One thing Leeds can be certain they’ll get from Muharemovic is fight. The Bosnian was admired by previous club Sassuolo and country for his elite mentality and leadership qualities.

“As a player I will give everything for this club,” he told LUTV after signing last week. “I will give everything every game, I just want to win. I hate to lose and I will fight for every ball, even with it's my head or my feet, I'm going.

“I know that it is a big and historical club. I know a lot. I followed since I heard about the interest that I could come here.

"I watched a lot, especially I watched a lot of videos about the fans, that every game is sold out, so it is just incredible. It feels amazing, I just can't wait to start the season and to see the fans."
