Leeds United team news vs Brighton confirmed with injury boost as Daniel Farke makes big defensive decision

Daniel Farke has confirmed his Leeds United starting-XI to face Brighton this afternoon.

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has confirmed his starting line-up to face Brighton this afternoon.

The Whites head south looking to end a dismal 10-game run in which they’ve failed to win at the Amex Stadium. Last season’s 3-0 defeat felt like a nadir for Daniel Farke’s side but they return a much-improved outfit.

Last weekend’s 1-1 comeback drat at home to Brentford kept Leeds’ unbeaten start to the campaign alive. They’ve also won twice on the road in all competitions, both times at Nottingham Forest.

And with hope of building on that impressive start to finally win at the Amex, Farke has named his starting-XI. The most notable decision comes at left wing-back, with Gabriel Gudmundsson returning from injury to make his first appearance of the season.

James Trafford starts his fourth consecutive game for Leeds behind a back three of which only Tarik Muharemovic is unchanged. James Justin comes in for Joe Rodon on the right with Nico Elvedi picked ahead of the benched Jaka Bijol in the middle.

Jayden Bogle will be tasked with providing width from right wing-back, while Gudmundsson is back in his natural position on the left. Ethan Ampadu will lead the side out as captain, with Anton Stach and Ao Tanaka alongside him. Farke looks to have deployed a 3-5-2 formation, with Noah Okafor partnering Dominic Calvert-Lewin upfront.

There are places on the bench for deadline day arrivals Melvin Bard and Jean-Matteo Bahoya, who could be handed debuts. New goalkeeper Michael Zetterer is also among the substitutes.

Leeds XI in full: Trafford; Justin, Elvedi, Muharemovic; Bogle, Ampadu, Stach, Tanaka, Gudmundsson; Okafor, Calvert-Lewin

Subs: Zetterer, Bard, Bijol, Longstaff, Aaronson, Wilson, James, Bahoya Nmecha
