Leeds United transfer news RECAP: Joel Piroe to West Ham close, Nico Elvedi latest, Sebastiaan Bornauw exit
The latest Leeds United transfer news including updates on Nico Elvedi, Joel Piroe and Sebastiaan Bornauw.
Leeds United are back in competitive action this weekend with a trip to Nottingham Forest kicking off their Premier League campaign.
Daniel Farke’s side rounded off their pre-season preparations in emphatic fashion, a 4-0 win over FC Augsburg coming via goals from Anton Stach, Tarik Muharemovic, James Justin, Lukas Nmecha. That left the Whites with four wins from six friendlies heading into the new term.
Leeds have been just as busy away from the pitch too, with progress made over the weekend on defensive target Nico Elvedi. A move to Elland Road now feels like a matter of time following the agreement of a deal that will cost an initial £6.8million.

That fee could rise to £8.5m if add-ons are met and was struck following news of Sebastiaan Bornauw’s potential exit. Elvedi is expected to replace the Belgian centre-back, who is on his way to Hamburg on loan with the Bundesliga side holding an option to buy.
Another potential exit could be Joel Piroe, who after a Premier League season on the fringes now appears keen to leave. Leeds are also open to a departure but would prefer a permanent sale for a fee around £16m.
Reports from the Netherlands have claimed West Ham are open to a deal for the striker, potentially on loan with an obligation to buy if they get promoted. It remains to be seen what that deal could be worth to Leeds, with Piroe into the final year of his Elland Road contract.
And Lucas Perri could be on the move too, following the £40m arrival of new first-choice goalkeeper James Trafford. The Brazilian is closing in on a loan move to Serie A side FC Torino, who like Hamburg with Bornauw will hold an option to make the deal permanent.
