Leeds United transfer rumours as former loan flop on radar and decision made on striker target

The latest Leeds United transfer rumours as the club gear up for an important January transfer window.

Leeds United are bracing themselves for what could be a pivotal window in their quest for survival this season.

Much has been made about Daniel Farke’s side struggling in front of goal and it is expected that the club will be keeping an eye on forward players in the upcoming window to add some firepower in attack.

Even though Dominic Calvert-Lewin has hit a rich vein of form and attack have scored nine goals in four Premier League games, there is still a desire to add some strength in depth to supplement players like Calvert-Lewin and Noah Okafor.

A decision has been made about one player who has been a reported target for the Whites in the past, AC Milan’s Santiago Jimenez.

Football Insider reports that Leeds are unlikely to meet the valuation set by the Italian giants that would be required to get the signing over the line. It is believed that AC Milan would want around £25-35m to sign the striker who has failed to get off the mark in Serie A so far this season.

It is also reported that if Farke wants to bring in a striker, it is more likely to be a loan deal due to the financial restrictions currently holding the Yorkshire side back.

SportsBoom reports that Leeds are keeping an eye on former loanee Weston McKennie, who is currently unsettled in Serie A with Juventus.

The USA international previously played at Elland Road in 2023 but he failed to meet the expectations of a talented young midfielder that many thought he was before he signed for the club.

West Ham United are also believed to be interested in McKennie and it would be a surprise to see McKennie return to Leeds anytime soon.

The 27-year-old has previously spoken about his struggles in England, telling CBS Sports Golazo: “Okay, I will say this, Leeds as a club, the people within the club I liked,

“The city itself and the surroundings were a little bit hard. It was always grey, I had a sunlight window in my house, and there was never any sun coming through.”

“No Sunday roast, no nothing. I was alone. My area was like no area, nothing around. I went up to see Harry Potter World, which was like an hour away. That’s it, that’s all I did, and golf.”
