Graham Smyth provides Leeds United Harry Wilson transfer latest as reason for delay explained
Leeds United are expected to sign the free agent but nothing has been confirmed as yet.
Leeds United’s Harry Wilson signing announcement might not come until next week but there are no concerns over a potential Daniel James repeat.
The Whites and Wilson agreed the terms of a move to Elland Road last week, 10 months after a failed deadline-day attempt to prise the Welshman away from Fulham. He’s since run down his Craven Cottage contract and left as a free agent.
That free agent status, coupled with a best-ever campaign in which he registered 10 goals and seven assists in 36 Premier League games, saw competition for Wilson intensify. But the 29-year-old opted for the team who were willing to pay a transfer fee last year.

Since news broke of that move, however, it’s been quiet with no official announcement. Leeds fans have been hurt by late U-turns in the past, with James’ prospective January 2019 move from Swansea called off after he’d posed for pictures around Elland Road.
With that late drama still fresh in the memory, alongside Fulham’s late Wilson U-turn last summer, there have been some concerns. But YEP chief football writer Graham Smyth has cleared up the delay surrounding confirmation.

“Yeah it's done. It's agreed,” he told the YEP’s Inside Elland Road podcast. “I don't expect an announcement until possibly even next week but nobody is in any way panicking about it or worrying about it.
“There's no nefarious reasons behind that. It's just a timing logistics, getting him in the building thing as far as I'm aware. But yeah, that one's done and agreed. And like we dealt with last week, a good signing, very good signing.”
Once Wilson’s move is confirmed, he can look forward to joining his Wales teammates for pre-season later this month. Leeds head to the USA for a trio of games against Wrexham, Sunderland and Liverpool before returning home.
Leeds fans will likely get their first look at Wilson during those games before Daniel Farke’s squad host two German sides at Elland Road, either side of a Dublin trip to face Manchester United. The Whites face RB Leipzig on August 8 and FB Augsburg on August 15.
