Leeds United transfers as Dutch interest confirmed and striker makes loan exit
The latest transfer talk from Elland Road as Leeds United look to add to their squad during the January transfer window.
Eredivisie giants PSV Eindhoven are reportedly keen on a move for a Leeds United player before the end of the January transfer window - according to reports in the Netherlands.
The future of Joel Piroe has been an ongoing subject of discussion as the former Swansea City forward struggles for game-time at Elland Road. With Dominic Calvert-Lewin now firmly established as Daniel Farke’s first choice striker and fellow summer signings Noah Okafor and Lukas Nmecha also part of the Whites attacking options, Piroe has been limited to just two Premier League starts. His only other starts have come in cup competitions after he made 90-minute appearance in the shock Carabao Cup exit at the hands of Sheffield Wednesday and he also led the line in Sunday’s FA Cup third round win against Derby County.
However, there has been talk of what could lie ahead for Piroe and De Telegraaf journalist Jeroen Kapteijns has claimed injuries to Alassane Pléa, Myron Boadu and United States international Ricardo Pepi has forced reigning Eredivisie champions PSV to consider a move for the Whites star - but have stressed the Dutch giants could face some resistance from the player himself.
He told Voetbal Primeur: “Last year it was the end of January, and Pepi injured his knee. It ended up being Lucas Perez. That wasn’t a success. Hopefully, they’ll have more success with their stopgap measure now, because that’s what it is, of course. One name that was also mentioned is Piroe, who is obviously playing less at Leeds United. With the World Cup in mind, it might be beneficial for him to play a bit more for those play-off matches.
But he [Piroe] is settling in very well at Leeds United, where he’s had some fantastic years. As things stand now, Piroe primarily wants to keep competing at Leeds. And Leeds isn’t necessarily keen to lose him. But they’ll explore those options.”
The news comes after Piroe admitted he would ‘always be open to a return’ to PSV after he spent six years with the club prior to his move to Swansea City in the summer of 2021. Speaking to Voetbal International before the current season, the Whites star said: “That club is the most ingrained in me. And my time there didn’t end the way I had hoped. So, I will always be open to a return. It’s not realistic now. But who knows, later.”
Academy forward seals loan exit

Leeds United have confirmed academy striker Devon Brockie has joined Northern Premier League club Cleethorpes Town on a youth loan.
The 18-year-old has featured for the Whites Under-21s in a number of competitions over the first half of the season after appearing in the National League Cup, EFL Trophy, Premier League International Cup and Premier League 2. However, he will now earn senior experience with the Owls and will be eligible to make his debut when his new side travel to Northern Premier League Premier Division rivals Leek Town on Saturday.
