Leeds United exploring free agent signing of Germany and Champions League veteran attacker
Attacking quality will be the summer transfer priority for Leeds United.
Leeds United are exploring a deal to sign a free agent with more than 380 Bundesliga games and 48 Germany caps under his belt.
The Whites' brief this summer is to add more quality to a squad that finished 14th in the Premier League last season and the YEP understands they are currently exploring a deal to sign attacking midfielder Julian Brandt. The 30-year-old is set to depart Borussia Dortmund as a free agent this summer having scored 57 goals and added 70 assists in 307 games.
Brandt's stellar career has brought more than 80 Champions League appearances and almost 50 caps for his country. Leeds believe they are one of a number of options on the table for Brandt, with at least one Champions League club interested in snapping him up as a free agent.
Strengthening the middle of the pitch and forward areas is key for Leeds this summer and Brandt's versatility would be a huge asset. The German has played as a number 10, in central midfield and on both flanks during a career that began at Wolfsburg and then took him to Bayer Leverkusen, before the €25m move to Dortmund in 2019.
Leeds are also among the clubs monitoring Shea Charles' situation this summer. The central midfielder has shone for Northern Ireland and played a part in Southampton's run to the Championship play-offs last season prior to them being kicked out over Spygate.
