Leeds United transfers as Marcelo Bielsa favourite eyed for ex-coach reunion with 'contact' made

Leeds United winger Jack Harrison has emerged as a potential target in Spain.

Out-of-favour Leeds United winger Jack Harrison has emerged as a potential January transfer target for Spanish strugglers Valencia.

Harrison has been on the fringes of first-team action since returning to Leeds from back-to-back loan spells at Everton in the summer. The 29-year-old has made 11 Premier League appearances but started just once and is yet to register a goal or assist, falling to fifth choice winger.

Reports from Spain now suggest Harrison could be offered a route out of Elland Road, with a struggling La Liga outfit eyeing a potential January move for the experienced wide man. Spanish national outlet Marca reports the Leeds man is ‘on Valencia’s radar’ with attacking reinforcements needed next month.

According to Marca, Harrison has already been contacted over a potential move although there is no clarity whether the Spanish club want a loan or permanent deal. They have already done recent business with Leeds, of course, taking Largie Ramazani on board for the 2025/26 campaign.

Head coach Carlos Corberan is thought to have played an important role in Leeds’ decision to send Ramazani to Valencia and the impressive Spanish boss is known to his club’s latest target too. He worked as assistant to Marcelo Bielsa during the 2019/20 Championship title-winning campaign in which Harrison played a major role on loan from Manchester City.

Corberan joined Valencia last year but has struggled to build on a strong start in Spain. His side are currently just one place and one point above the La Liga relegation zone, while Ramazani is yet to score in eight substitute appearances in the league.

Leeds United January transfer stance amid Jack Harrison exit links

It remains to be seen if Leeds would be open to losing Harrison but any permanent sale would likely generate profit in terms of Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR), given he signed a three-year contract for £11m back in 2021. That will certainly be a consideration given managing director Robbie Evans’ admission in September that the club are at their PSR limit.

Daniel Farke recently insisted he was not looking to lose any of his current crop but remained open to making changes, if an opportunity in the market necessitates it, Leeds are expected to strengthen their own attacking options when the window opens on Thursday, as reported by the YEP, with an exploration into the loan market likely.

"You have to ask the players not playing that much if they're happy," Farke said on January exits earlier this month. "I have no indication that anyone wants to leave. The spirit and togetherness is outstanding, it's a joy to work with them. You can't build a successful group when you just have 11 players.

“More or less every player has started or has minutes for us. I don't have any motivation to give one member of our group away in January. It's the market and if we can improve by doing a change we should be open to this but all players with us are strongly in my plans."
