Leeds United's relegation-battling rivals sign new striker in £21.8m deal as international departs
Key Leeds United rivals have signed a new striker in a £21.8m deal.
Leeds United’s struggling Premier League rivals West Ham United have signed a new striker in a £21.8m deal.
The Hammers have now gone eight games without a victory and sit third-bottom in the table, four points adrift of fourth-bottom Nottingham Forest and seven points adrift of fifth-bottom Leeds.
In their bid for survival, the Irons have now forked out a reported 25m euros (£21.8m) to sign 22-year-old Brazilian striker Pablo Felipe from Portuguese side Gil Vicente on a four-and-a-half year contract with the option of a further year.
Born in Portugal, the striker has netted ten 10 Primera Liga goals in 13 appearances so far this season and the forward is available to make his debut in Saturday afternoon’s clash at Wolves.
“A strong message that I have come to prove my worth”
Speaking to West Ham’s official website, Pablo said: “I am very happy. I will give my all for this club, leaving everything on the pitch, all my effort, all my dedication.
“The fans really like players who fight for the badge, and I can promise that I will leave every last drop of sweat on the pitch for this club.
“I want to send a strong message that I have come to prove my worth. I know I am a young player, but I know that at this club you have to give your all, and we have to give our best for the club and for our teammates.”
As one striker arrives at the club another has departed, Germany international striker Niclas Fullkrug joining AC Milan on loan until the end of the 2025/26 season, with an option to make the transfer permanent.
