Shock U-turn as Leeds United's former relegation rivals sack manager after drop to Championship

Leeds United’s former relegation rivals have sacked their manager following the drop to the Championship.

One of Leeds United’s former relegation rivals have sacked their manager following the drop to the Championship in a shock U-turn move.

Rob Edwards left Championship promotion-chasers Middlesbrough to become new manager of Wolves last November and the 43-year-old began improving the club’s fortunes after a dreadful start.

Wolves ultimately looked doomed to relegation from some way out and the Molineux club were officially relegated with five games still to play but Edwards appeared all set to lead the club’s bid to bounce straight back with promotion at the first attempt.

Edwards, though, as per Sky Sports, has now been sacked after just seven months in the role, the club expected to appoint Cesar Peixoto, currently head coach of Portuguese side Gil Vicente, as their new boss.
