Leeds United fans in Brighton game disagreement with player appearance and send-off hope
Leeds United’s fans have their say on Sunday’s final home game of the season against Brighton.
An already safe Leeds United side welcome Brighton in their final home game of the season on Sunday - but what do the club’s fans think? Here is what our YEP Jury have had to say including disagreement on the predictions front plus a player appearance and squad send off hope.
KEITH INGHAM
The curtain comes down on the season at Elland Road with Leeds United’s final home game with Brighton on Sunday.
It is hoped that Daniel Farke and his players are given a hero’s send off at the end of the game whatever the score is. They deserve every man, woman and child to salute their efforts this season.
Brighton have won four of their last six games and have a great chance of playing European football next season. A former hero will return on Sunday but it is not certain that Georgino Rutter will start or be on the bench.
Leeds are struggling, injury wise. Noah Okafor, Gabi Gudmundsson and probably Jayden Bogle are definitely out and Pascal Struijk doubtful after came off injured at Spurs.
Willy Gnonto and Lukas Nmecha had decent games when coming on in the second half and may be included in the line up against Brighton.
I’d love to see Sam Byram get some minutes as he will probably leave the club at the end of the season.
This is a tough game against a good team and we are understrength, so a point wouldn’t be disappointing.
A win would finish off the season at home with style. I’m hoping for a win.
Prediction: Leeds United 2 Brighton & Hove Albion 1.

Leeds United put in a typical, battling performance against Tottenham Hotspur and were unlucky not to bag all three points.
Nobody can be in any doubt that the Whites are approaching the final run-in with tenacity and determination.
United were in a very different place last November when they visited Brighton and were walloped 3-0.
Other than their encounters with leaders Arsenal, this was one of the season’s low points and the Whites looked every inch the bewildered newly-promoted team facing an uphill struggle.
How their fortunes have changed.
The Seasiders are currently riding high in seventh position. They beat Wolves 3-0 last time out but lost to Newcastle in the previous game.
Whatever the result on Sunday, you can be sure that the Elland Road faithful will give head coach Daniel Farke and his men due appreciation for their considerable achievements this season.
This is no less than the Whites deserve and the old ground should be at its best once again on Sunday afternoon.
Prediction: Leeds United 2 Brighton & Hove Albion 1.
“Leeds owe them one, though”
DAVID WATKINS
With every rung up the Premier League table worth something like an extra £2.8 million, there is plenty of incentive for Leeds to keep their foot on the gas for the final two games of the season, even though that Arsenal win at West Ham United last weekend ensured our safety.
In any case, with both of our remaining games affecting other clubs’ relegation and European qualification battles, it is the right thing to do for the integrity of the Premier League.
This weekend, in our penultimate game, we face the Seagulls from Brighton, a team still in the frame to qualify for European competition next season, even a Champions League spot. Hence, I’m sure they will give it their all to capture that lucrative reward.
Leeds owe them one, though, we lost badly in Brighton last November when putting in one of our poorest displays of the season.
The Seagulls currently sit seventh in the table, two points behind their south coast neighbours, Bournemouth, in sixth, and they are in decent form, third in the latest 12-game form table, behind only Arsenal and Manchester City.
I think this one will be tight – aren’t they all? But I’m hoping it’s a successful final appearance of the season at Elland Road.
Prediction: Leeds United 2 Brighton & Hove Albion 1.
“Could prove crucial”
ANDY RHODES
With safety secured and the end of the season in sight, the focus for Leeds United and Daniel Farke is finishing as high up the Premier League table as possible.
Reportedly, a higher bonus awaits for the players as well as the club depending on their final position, and extra funds could prove crucial in the summer transfer window.
Brighton, who are chasing a potential Champions League place let alone the Europa League, will be eyeing a win themselves.
The Seagulls are in form and, although they don’t have the best away record, have only lost twice on the road since the new year.
Leeds will miss valuable players as they did at Tottenham on Monday, but Farke has developed a flexible team, with players able to slot into other positions.
It would be good to see Dominic Calvert-Lewin end the season with a flourish to boost his World Cup hopes, while Anton Stach will be hoping for the same.
Leeds may have secured their safety but there is no way the players are already on the beach.
Prediction: Leeds United 2 Brighton and Hove Albion 2.
“One massive factor in this season’s successes”
NEIL GREWER
This is the end to the season we all wanted and dreamed of. Leeds are now safe with games to spare and no jeopardy. Cue what should be a party atmosphere at Elland Road on Sunday.
But the team are not finished – they want more and it is within their grasp.
Whilst 17th position was the aim, 14th seems realistic now and the performance at Spurs evidenced their desires.
All season Leeds have stayed in games, remained competitive and this bore fruit again at Spurs.
One massive factor in this season’s successes has been the performance of the medical team and coaches resulting in minutes missed due to injury being low, compared to others.
And Daniel Farke has used the joint lowest number of players.
Combine this with the fantastic team spirit engendered by Farke and exemplified by captain Ethan Ampadu and we have a winning formula.
Only now are Leeds suffering from injuries (weak bench at Spurs) but the strong performances continue.
I expect an open game with both teams going for the win and Leeds seeking to gain revenge for the poor performance and defeat at Brighton.
Prediction: Leeds United 2 Brighton & Hove Albion 2.
