Leeds United fans on Burnley game, Daniel Farke declaration and Anton Stach's best in league record
Leeds United’s fans have their say on Friday night’s 3-1 win against Burnley under the Elland Road lights.
Leeds United put themselves on the cusp of survival with Friday night’s 3-1 win against already relegated Burnley - but what did the club’s fans think? Here is what our YEP Jury had to say on the Elland Road victory against the Clarets including a “doff your cap” declaration to boss Daniel Farke and a star’s best in the league record.

And breathe! Mostly this season, Leeds have done the business when they really needed to, when the chips were down, and this game felt very much as if the chips were down.
Three more points must surely be enough.
Leeds started quickly, and we always put our best performances and results together when we score early.
Anton Stach had no right to score from where he did, and Martin Dubravka must take some blame, but Anton is living proof that it is always worth having a pop at goal; this was his fourth goal scored from outside the box, and no other player has managed that in the Premier League this season.
Early in the second half, we scored twice more – a sublime piece of attacking play by Dom Calvert-Lewin to intercept the ball on halfway and then play a defence-splitting back-heel for Jayden Bogle to feed Noah Okafor, and then a close-range effort by DCL himself, who suddenly found his goal-poaching form again.
It wouldn’t be Leeds if they didn’t test our nerves as they did for 20 minutes after the Clarets pulled a goal back, but this time we got to the line without too much drama.
Man of the match: Dom Calvert-Lewin for that back-heel moment!
“You have to doff your cap to what Daniel Farke and his squad have achieved thus far this season”

We wondered if Leeds could get over the disappointment of losing at Wembley six days ago.
That question was answered after just eight minutes thanks to the boot of one of the buys of last summer’s transfer window.
Anton Stach from fully 30 yards beat Martin Dubravka just inside the post. The relief was sensed in the ground and those around the world watching their favourites on TV.
Ultimately we aren’t safe just yet, but not one team in Premier League history has been relegated after reaching 43 points. West Ham went down with 42 points in the early noughties.
You have to doff your cap to what Daniel Farke and his squad have achieved thus far this season.
The game was won with a further two second-half goals, after a Stach’s superb early strike. The second goal definitely needs a mention.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin broke free in midfield and looked to be going nowhere but a superb back-heel put Jayden Bogle in and his cross was superbly finished by Noah Okafor.
DCL himself put Leeds three up. When Ethan Ampadu’s long throw wasn’t cleared, Okafor found Ao Tanaka. His shot was saved, but DCL was first to react to score. Burnley did get a goal back but it was too little, too late.
Man of the match: Anton Stach.
“Like their league position, it was too late”
MIKE GILL
Leeds United made no mistake at Elland Road on Friday night as they crushed Burnley in a match that was one-sided except for a short period in the second half when the Clarets pulled one back after being the wrong side of a VAR decision.
We were soon rewarded when the stylish Anton Stach found the far right corner of the goal to put the Whites in front with a 25-yarder.
Stach nearly scrambled home another shortly after but it was diverted for a corner.
Just before the hour, a blistering five minutes provided by Dominic Calvert-Lewin put Leeds three goals up.
Firstly, the lanky striker went haring down the right before sending Jayden Bogle away with a snazzy back-heel.
Bogle timed his run perfectly before releasing a pinpoint cross to Noah Okafor who treated us to one of his far post specials.
Within minutes, Ao Tanaka hit a sizzling strike that Burnley keeper Martin Dubravka couldn’t hold.
In the resulting scramble, DCL stabbed home another six-yard striker’s goal.
Burnley got a consolation goal from Loum Tchaouna but like their league position, it was too late.
Man of the match: Anton Stach.
“That was the ‘Swansea’ moment”
NEIL GREWER
These three points should secure Premier League football for next season – a fantastic achievement with three games to play.
The atmosphere was joyful at Elland Road before kick-off and eight minutes later – after Anton Stach unleashed a powerful left footed daisy cutter into the Burnley net from 25 yards out – the joy level increased.
Leeds dominated the first 45 minutes with Burnley rarely causing any concerns.
On 52 minutes a Dominic Calvert-Lewin interception, run, and delightful back-heal set up Jayden Bogle to cross for Noah Okafor to convert.
Cue wild celebrations on and off the pitch.
That was the ‘Swansea’ moment – we all knew that should do it!
And four minutes later after Ao Tanaka’s shot was saved, Calvert-Lewin converted the rebound from within the ‘DCL Corridor’. Game over. Noise levels increased.
Burnley showed some spirit and, after having had a goal chalked off for offside, did score when Pascal Struijk was turned in the area.
Suddenly, Leeds seemed a little disorientated in defence and the jeopardy level increased, but they saw out the game. A comfortable win in the end.
Man of the match: Anton Stach (although there were several contenders).
“Certainly a contender for player of the season”
ANDY RHODES
With Leeds United playing and winning on Friday night, it allowed them to sit back and relax as West Ham United were beaten at Brentford.
Safety isn’t yet confirmed but we are inching closer by the day.
This 3-1 win against Burnley looked like it was going to be emphatic and, for a while, it was.
Anton Stach showed that even though our recent results without him have been positive, he has still been a miss.
Stach is certainly a contender for player of the season.
As is Dominic Calvert-Lewin, while Noah Okafor has hit form just at the right time. His goal here settled any lingering nerves and set Leeds on their way to three points.
Again, though Leeds did make hard work of it in the latter stages, but they held on to claim a vital three points.
A total of 43 points at this stage of the season moved Leeds nine points clear of Tottenham ahead of the north London side’s clash at Aston Villa last night.
We aren’t safe yet, but if Leeds continue as they are, with Spurs to come next, they should confirm their safety.
Man of the match: Anton Stach.
