"Put that right" - Ethan Ampadu on Leeds United survival, Brighton game intent, Daniel Farke and club's fans

Leeds United go into Sunday’s final home game of the season against Brighton with their Premier League survival already secured.

Whites captain Ethan Ampadu has issued a Leeds United survival and Brighton game message with huge praise for his club’s fans and a thank you to boss Daniel Farke.

Leeds are going into Sunday’s home finale against Brighton with their Premier League survival having already been secured with three games to go.

Despite being a newly promoted team, Leeds were made mathematically safe from relegation even before last Monday night’s visit to fourth-bottom Tottenham Hotspur thanks to Arsenal’s 1-0 win third-bottom West Ham the previous day.

Writing in his captain’s column of Sunday’s matchday programme, Ampadu declared the squad’s delight at securing the club’s top flight status, especially as a reward for United’s ‘incredible’ supporters.

The captain issued a message of thanks to everyone involved at Leeds, starting with boss Farke, but declared the intent to now make up for November’s disappointing 3-0 defeat at Brighton by putting it right in Sunday’s reverse fixture home finale.

Ampadu beamed: “As captain of this great football club, it has been a privilege to lead this group of players for another season.

“As a dressing room, we’re all so proud that we have managed to secure our status in the Premier League for another campaign.

“You consistently drive us on and keep us going”

“On behalf of the squad, I’d like to say a huge thank you to the manager, coaching staff, the people behind the scenes at Thorp Arch, everyone at Elland Road, and the ownership, who all work tirelessly in order to give us the best opportunity for us as players to perform to our optimum level and deliver.

“It goes without saying, I would also like to say a huge thank you to you, our incredible supporters who follow us at home and away in huge numbers. Your support means everything to us as players.

“You consistently drive us on and keep us going, even in difficult moments and we’re so happy we’ve been able to reward your loyalty with another successful campaign.

“Today, we face Brighton & Hove Albion who have had a great campaign. At the Amex in November, we had one of our worst performances of the season.

“Days like that have been a rarity throughout the campaign as a whole, so we want to try and put that right today, by winning our final home game.”
