Yorkshire Amateur: Grangefield steal St Bede's thunder in Marflitt Trophy quarter-finals
Bede’s didn’t have time to warm up pre-match and had to fight through 120 minutes with no substitutes after top scorer Adeeb Jawad went off injured.
It was a tough encounter and Jawad’s withdrawal after a late tackle was the main action of a physical first half that ended goalless.

Grangefield went in front when Rhys O’Hare, the smallest man on the pitch, leapt to head home a cross that came off the underside of the bar.
Despite Dan Lynas making two fine, late saves, experienced frontman Ian Horrocks popped up in the final minute of added time to level terms – before Bede’s won the shootout 4-3.
Last year’s beaten finalists Farsley Celtic Juniors were knocked out in the third round by Drighlington, 4-3 winners in another game that went to extra-time.

James Scott fired through bodies to bring the hosts level but Neil Stevens poked home to restore the lead after an outstanding run from Tez Ncube down the left.
Last season’s second-tier champions hauled themselves back on terms through Harvey Booth and despite going down to ten men, forced extra time when Andy Punter made it 3-2.
Louis Surtees stuck his penalty away, with Danny Lyons elbowed by a defender, to pull it back to 3-3 but a late Harvey Booth drive from 25 yards won it.

Hide AdTwo further ties to complete the semi-final line-up follow as Morley Town face Leeds Medics this weekend and unlikely contenders Leeds Medics Reserves play Alwoodley next Saturday.
In a vintage year for the club, the Medics maintained their perfect record in the Premier Division with a 5-2 defeat of Beeston Juniors.
It’s perhaps a sign of the high standards Steve Ledger’s side are setting that this was described as a solid but unspectacular victory, earned by four Brad Chambers strikes and a first-half effort from Sverrir Kristinsson.
Beeston, who struck twice in a second-half counter-punch that wasn’t backed up, are three points from the drop zone with six points from eight games.

Josh Whiteley, Leroy Watson and Stuart Davies punished errors from the visitors to go into half-time 3-1 up, Whiteley and Dean Powell adding further goals after the break. Saad Abbas, Shakeel Malik and Mohammed Qasim struck late on to make it a nervy ending.
Elsewhere, a Glyn Haley hat-trick took Ealandians into the picture with a 5-2 defeat of Morley Town at Elland Cricket Club.
Rob Gumbley and Ryan Hartley got on the Town scoresheet but Haley’s treble won the day, alongside James Parkinson and Colin Schofield goals.

Hide AdThe top flight’s other game saw Stanningley send St Nicholas to the bottom of the league with a knife-edged 3-2 win at Hough Top.
A first-half Joel Snape brace and Jamie McGeorge formed the backbone, but a lack of confidence prevented the hosts from managing the game and Dan Walker and Jon Daniel both struck to threaten a comeback.
The Championship also threw up some high-scoring games, with Calverley United overpowering Wortley 9-4.
Calverley, now strong leaders of the division, saw Matty Wilson net four and Si McQuiston a useful treble.

In Division One, basement boys Leeds Medics 3rds lost a nine-goal thriller 5-4 to Garforth Rangers – boosted by a Patrick Wilkinson hat-trick.
