How that winning feeling helped convince Kieran Brown to keep the faith at Leeds Knights
ONE of the reasons for Kieran Brown agreeing to a new three-year deal with Leeds Knights was the desire to bring more NIHL National silverware to the club.
And although the odds are stacked against the team he has captained to three league titles, a play-off crown and a National Cup, he hasn’t given up hope of adding to that haul this season.
The Knights may be sat top of play-off Group B and in pole position to make it to the Final Four Weekend in Coventry, but this weekend’s double-header against Milton Keynes Lightning may represent their toughest assignment yet in what has already been their most testing campaign since their first-ever in 2021-22.
Short on bodies they might be ahead of back-to-back games against the defending play-off champions, but they are certainly not lacking in positivity, certainly when it comes to their skipper.

“It’s a really close group,” said Brown. “We’ve lost a couple of guys to GB 18s which is unfortunate but really good for them because they are going to go and experience something really cool.
“We’ve also got a couple of injuries but I’m really looking at things positively this weekend. We need two points and we can be in Coventry once again. We’ve just got to be dialled in for both games.
“Winning was one of the big reasons for me signing back for three more years. We still have play-offs to go for this year but - regardless of what happens there - I’m definitely looking to get back to winning trophies next year.”
