Leeds Knights v Hull Seahawks: Form book counts for nothing in derby duel, says Matty Davies
MATTY DAVIES insists the form book will go out the window when Hull Seahawks visit Leeds Knights on Friday night at The Castle.
The hosts suffered rare back-to-back losses last weekend - for the first time since the opening weekend of the 2025-26 NIHL National season.
By contrast, the Seahawks enjoyed hard-fought, back-to-back overtime wins against Romford Raiders, stretching their winning streak to four games - their best run of form so far in what Davies acknowledges has been a stop-start campaign.
The last time Hull visited Leeds, they did so on the back of three straight wins, but headed back home to East Yorkshire on the back of a 5-1 defeat.
After their clash with the Knights, the Seahawks then play host to second-placed Sheffield Steeldogs in a second, eagerly-awaited derby clash of the weekend.
“It’s obviously better going into a weekend like this winning rather than losing,” said Seahawks head coach Davies.
“But when the games are like this - especially the derbies - and more specifically the Leeds game, we have seen over the last two, three years, pretty much every game has been a different story.

“They have always been pretty intense games and, no matter what, whether we’re playing well and on a good run, or whether they have lost games - I don’t believe it matters on the night.
“Leeds have been a team that have always bounced back when they have lost - always - so I’m expecting their best and so are the lads.”
