Yorkshire-based Devon Petersen crashes out of World Darts Championship

Two-time champion Gary Anderson proved too strong for Yorkshire based South African Devon Paterson in the final 16 of the PDC World Darts Championship.

Petersen, who lives in Bradford, went into the fourth round tie in impressive form, but never hit his stride and was beaten 4-0.

The 34-year-old failed to hold his throw in the opening leg of the match and lost the first set 3-0.

He went two legs up in each of the next two, but missed opportunities - including busting his score on 81 - proved costly and Anderson hit back both times to take a 3-0 lead in the best of seven sets match.

Petersen, who missed with a dart to win the third set, was then shut out 3-0 in legs as Anderson completed a comprehensive win.
