Castleford Tigers contacted by RFL after ref comment overheard on Sky Sports in win v Leeds Rhinos

Castleford Tigers coach Ryan Carr could be in hot water following his side’s derby win against Leeds Rhinos.

Governing body the RFL have contacted Tigers for an explanation after a comment allegedly made by the team boss about the referee was picked up on Sky Sports’ coverage of the match. Carr watched the first half from a position close to the television gantry before moving to the mainstand touchline after the break.

An RFL spokesman told the Yorkshire Evening Post Tigers have been “written to asking to report back with their submissions” after Carr was apparently heard angrily criticising match official Liam Rush in background of the live television coverage during the opening period. It is not clear if Sky or the RFL received any complaints or if Carr was asked to change his viewing position for the second half.

The game saw Tigers hit back from 16-0, 20-4 and 30-16 down to record a famous 36-34 victory against the Betfred Super League leaders.
