Castleford Tigers director steps down after 3 months in role

A Castleford Tigers director has resigned after just three months in the role.

The club today (Tuesday) confirmed Dean Jones has stepped down “due to a change in work logistics”. Jones, chief operating officer at Menzies Distribution Solutions, was appointed on July 14.

At the time he said his job was “to try and work with the board to create the best conditions for the club that we can to flourish and continue to grow”. Assistant team boss Luke Robinson, who took temporary charge after coach Ryan Carr left the club in August, spoke highly of Jones, praising his and owner Martin Jepson’s “vision” and “strong ambitions”.

A club statement announcing Jones’ resignation said: “Dean has kindly agreed to remain as an advisor to the board for the foreseeable future, allowing the club to continue benefiting from his experience and guidance. The club would like to thank Dean for the outstanding work he has undertaken during his time as a director and for his continued support and commitment to Castleford Tigers.”

Tigers finished second from bottom in Super League this year and are still without a coach for 2027 after Carr departed less than a season into the 36-month contract.
