Castleford Tigers news: 4 return as 21-man squad named v York Knights

Outside-back Louis Senior is yet to play a competitive game this term after suffering an ankle injury during a pre-season fixture at St Helens in January. He is one of four players back in contention for Tigers’ first meeting with York in 21 years.

Coach Ryan Carr was unable to name a full squad for the trip to Hull KR two weeks ago, but prop George Lawler, utility Ashton Golding and forward George Hirst are also back in the mix ahead of Saturday’s match, allowing the team boss to select from 21. Lawler has completed a two-match ban, Hirst is available following a head knock and Golding could return from a calf muscle problem.

Mikaele Ravalawa, Jimmy Beckett and Tom Nicholson-Watton, who has returned to Leeds Rhinos after a one-match loan, are the players who drop out. Knights boss Mark Applegarth has named only a 20-man squad, despite having six players back in contention.

Toa Mata’afa, Sam Wood, Kieran Hudson, Will Dagger and loan duo King Vuniyayawa and Will Roberts have been drafted in, but Oli Field is unavailable because of injury and Ben Littlewood has returned to parent club Leeds Rhinos after suffering a wrist injury in the defeat at St Helens two weeks ago. Sam Cook and Myles Harrison are the others to drop out.
