Castleford Tigers news: former Leeds Rhinos and Wigan Warriors man departs 'with immediate effect'
A former Leeds Rhinos forward has left Castleford Tigers “with immediate effect”.
Prop Brad Singleton - who was a member of Rhinos’ treble-winning squad 13 years ago - joined Tigers last season and was contracted until the end of the 2026 campaign. He was granted a testimonial this year for services to the game, but hasn’t featured for Castleford since the Betfred Super League round one defeat by another of his previous clubs, Wigan Warriors, in February.
Last month coach Ryan Carr said Singleton was “taking some time off”, adding: “We are just working through some stuff with him in the background.”

A social media message from the club today said Singleton “has left the club with immediate effect”. A separate statement added: “The 33-year-old joined the Tigers from Salford Red Devils in March 2025 and featured 21 times during the 2025 Super League campaign. Everyone at the OneBore Stadium would like to thank Brad for his efforts during his time at the club and wish him and his family well for the future.”
Singleton made the first of his 178 appearances for Leeds in 2011. As well as the treble in 2015, he was a Super League Grand Final winner against Castleford two years later.
He joined Toronto Wolfpack in 2020 and moved to Wigan the following season. Three years ago he was traded to Salford as part of a deal which saw Rhinos academy product Tyler Dupree - who signed for Castleford last month - go the other way.
In his own statement, Singleton said his father’s recent health and the impending arrival of another child influenced his “heavy decision” to step away from Super League. He insisted: "The time feels right and there are three boys at home who are going to be pretty happy to have their dad around a lot more.
“I want to thank Ryan Carr and Castleford Tigers for allowing this to happen. Carry especially has been brilliant with me and made the whole thing really easy, which I've really appreciated.
“I could never have imagined where the game would take me. I'll always be thankful to Leeds Rhinos for taking a chance on me and bringing me into the Super League world - taking me on a journey we could only dream of.
“Then to go on and sign for Wigan and reach the Grand Final and the Challenge Cup final... another incredible chapter I’ll always be grateful for. Salford and Castleford, both with unbelievable fanbases - thank you as well. I've loved being part of those clubs and wish them nothing but the best going forward.
“To all the coaches and fans who've been part of the journey along the way, through the good and the bad - thank you. You've made every moment better. Without you, there is no game. And lastly, to the players..the friendships and memories I've made outweigh any trophy. It's been a laugh and I feel very lucky to have shared it with you all.”
Singleton said he is now keen to help with the development of young players in his home county of Cumbria.
