Coach Diskin delighted at Batley Bulldogs' character

BOSS MATT Diskin reckons Batley Bulldogs will take great confidence from their 46-22 thrashing of Toulouse Olympique.

“Under some of the circumstances, I think it was the best win we’ve had since I’ve been at the club,” Diskin said.

“It was off the back of the Easter period and we are battered and bruised at the moment, but we showed some real character and some flamboyance and skill as well. We played some great rugby and dominated for long periods and we executed our skill clinically.

“It was a really good performance and one we should take plenty of confidence from.”

Batley were without Patch Walker, who has a back problem, so Huddersfield Giants youngster Izaac Farrell stepped in at stand-off.

Diskin said: “He did really well. It was a very mature performance from him and he and Dominic Brambani controlled the game for us.”

Bulldogs have no game this weekend when the Betfred Championship takes a break for the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup fifth round.

“We’d love to still be in the Challenge Cup, but it’s much needed,” Diskin said of the free weekend. “After that we’ve got Featherstone away, who are playing some good rugby, so it doesn’t get any easier, but we’ll aim to be consistent and see where it takes us.”
