Disciplinary news as Wigan Warriors stars, including ex-Leeds Rhinos man, handed Challenge Cup final ban

Three Wigan Warriors players have been charged by the RFL’s match review panel ahead of Saturday’s Challenge Cup final.

Two are set to miss the Wembley date with Warrington Wolves after being handed penalty notices following incidents in last weekend’s Betfred Super League showdown against the same oppoents. The Wigan men were among eight players charged from the latest Super League round, including a Castleford Tigers stalwart after their loss to Leeds Rhinos.

The review panel also handed a ban to a player from one of the Championship teams involved in Saturday’s 1895 Cup final between Wakefield Trinity and Sheffield Eagles. The same rules apply as for the second tier play-offs, so that suspension will begin this weekend. Any appeals will be heard by an operation rules tribunal tomorrow (Tuesday).
