Disciplinary news: Wakefield Trinity & Wigan Warriors make decision on suspended players
Wakefield Trinity have accepted a suspension handed to forward Jazz Tevaga following their Challenge Cup defeat by Wigan Warriors.
Tevaga was banned for two games after the RFL’s match review panel charged him with a grade D kick in Sunday’s 26-22 loss at DIY Kitchens Stadium, Belle Vue. The hooker/loose-forward has decided not to appeal and will miss Saturday’s visit of Bradford Bulls and the trip to St Helens a week later.

Two Wigan players suspended over incidents in the Cup quarter-final have also accepted their grade E charges. Harry Smith (unnecessary contact with player who is/may be injured) and Sam Walters (headbutt) were both handed a three-match ban after receiving 18 penalty points. They will miss Sunday’s visit of Castleford Tigers plus games at Warrington Wolves and home to Bradford.
Tevaga was sin-binned in the first half for kicking Wigan winger Liam Marshall. The Wakefield man, who was on the ground with leg injury, was then shoved by Smith. Neither Smith nor Walters, who clashed with rival forward Jay Pitts, was punished on the field.
Players had until noon today (Tuesday) to appeal, but an unsuccessful challenge would have meant a game being added to their suspension.
