Ex-Leeds Rhinos and Castleford Tigers man Alex Mellor makes new Super League move
Former Leeds Rhinos and Castleford Tigers forward Alex Mellor has joined a new Super League club.
Mellor, who made 112 appearances for Castleford following his move from Leeds in 2022, was released from the final year of his Tigers contract earlier this month. He has penned a two-season deal with Catalans Dragons.
The 32-year-old played for Bradford Bulls and Huddersfield Giants before joining Rhinos ahead of the 2020 season and has 224 Betfred Super League appearances to his name. He said: “I am delighted to sign at such an outstanding club and I’m so excited to take my family on an adventure to the south of France.”

Catalans coach John Cartwright enthused: “Alex is another experienced player to add to the squad. He brings size and speed to our back- row [and] he will be great for our young forwards to learn from.”
Mellor becomes Catalans' eighth confirmed signing after Jesse Arthars, Tyson Gamble, Amir Bourouh, Luciano Leilua, Luca Walsh, Arthur Romano, and Joe Burgess.
