Forward returns to Leeds Rhinos for treatment after injury on loan at Hull FC

Forward Ethan O’Neill has returned to Leeds Rhinos for treatment after suffering an injury on loan at Hull FC.

The Australian second-rower joined Rhinos from Leigh Leopards in pre-season on a three-year contract, but has played only four times so far. He moved to Hull last month, linking up with Leeds clubmate Jeremiah Mata’utia who is on a similar arrangement.

O’Neill has featured five times, including an appearance at centre, but is not in the squad for tomorrow’s (Saturday) home game against Wigan Warriors after being hurt against Wakefield Trinity last week. Speaking at his preview press conference, Hull coach Andy Last said: “He has gone back to his parent club for treatment. It’s a little bit of a strain, grade two, but hopefully, he may be available for us next week.”

Last added: “He is certainly someone who has contributed significantly to our team. We like what Ethan's about and what he has done.”
