'Good enough to beat anyone' says Hunslet boss ahead of latest Championship challenge

Hunslet coach Kyle Trout says his side are “good enough to beat anyone”.

The Parksiders play host to Keighley Cougars in the Betfred Championship tomorrow (Sunday, 3pm) on the back of their first win at Dewsbury Rams since 2004. “We know we are good enough to beat anyone” Trout said ahead of this weekend’s game.

“A lot of the time this season we have been our own worst enemies, but last week for long periods we were good. It felt like a release, like we had pulled the plug on the frustration of recent weeks.

“It’s getting near the end of the season and for some of these lads it may be the last time they pull on a Hunslet shirt. They should realise it’s a privilege.”

Hunslet have fitness worries over Dan Abram and Harrison Gilmore. Trout added: “We may have to go bigger this week - keep our style of playing fast and open, but strip back and not

be too complicated. You don’t want to change a winning team, but injuries force our hand.”

Harvey Hallas, Mo Agoro and Kevin Larroyer are available, but loan player Matty Laidlaw has returned to Hull FC. Assessing Cougars, Trout said: “They have got some threats and obviously a lot of their players have played for us, which makes it spicier.

“Matty Beharrell plays better the more you challenge him and Josh Jordan-Roberts and Brad Clavering are experienced forwards. It is always about us though and for me Ethan O’Hanlon and Harrison Gilmore have really come on this year and last week Mackenzie Turner was outstanding.”
