Hull KR sign ex-Castleford Tigers & Wakefield Trinity back Ryan Hampshire

Super League champions Hull KR have signed former Castleford Tigers and Wakefield Trinity back Ryan Hampshire following a spell on trial.

The 31-year-old Wakefield-born utility-back played for Featherstone Rovers last season and was left without a club when they were denied a place in the 2026 Betfred Championship. A product of Wigan Warriors’ academy, he made his Super League debut in 2013 and had spells with Tigers and Leigh before joining Wakefield eight years ago.

He returned to Tigers in 2022 and Wigan the following year and has now signed a deal with Hull KR until the end of this season after a stint in their reserves. The Robins’ coach Willie Peters said: “Ryan has come into the group on trial and has impressed us with his professionalism and attitude in training.

“Ryan has earned this opportunity through training and his performances with the reserves and the way he has applied himself since arriving at the club. He’s an experienced player who understands the game and can cover several key positions in the spine, which is important to us.”
