Leeds Rhinos ace Maika Sivo makes match fitness admission after 4-try super show in Las Vegas win v Hull KR
Four-star winger Maika Sivo has played down his own role in Leeds Rhinos’ Las Vegas victory and insisted he needs to get more match fit.
The 32–year-old crossed for four tries as new world champions Hull KR were crushed 58-6 at Allegiant Stadium in Betfred Super League round three. That took his tally in two matches since returning from a year-long injury layoff to six, but Sivo insisted the full team deserves the credit.
Sivo said: “As a winger, it’s our job to finish those opportunities and I did that. It was a good team performance and here in Vegas it was a really important game for the club. It is good to come out with a win and everyone did their job.
“It’s only my second game in a while, I’ve still got match fitness to get week-by-week and we’ll go from there. We’ll enjoy this one, get back on Monday and focus on next week.”
The Fijian international, signed from Parramatta Eels, has already become a Rhinos fans’ favourite and he insisted the team had been keen to repay supporters who made the 10,000 mile round trip to Nevada. “It is one of the games you’ll never forget,” he added. “When you have people travelling so far to watch us, a big thank you to them. They are passionate fans and they wear the jersey wherever they go and it was good to see them here.”
