Leeds Rhinos star Harry Newman makes Hull FC loan move

England centre Harry Newman is set for a return to Super League action this weekend, but not for Leeds Rhinos.

Newman has joined top-flight rivals Hull FC on an initial one-week loan after not featuring in Rhinos’ past two games. He is expected to be in Hull’s side for Thursday’s home game against St Helens.

Newman was ever-present for Leeds in 2025 and has made seven appearances so far this term, but Australian Jack Bird, who joined Rhinos in February, took over in the right-centre against Warrington Wolves and Bradford Bulls, scoring a try in each game.

Newman made his Leeds debut in 2017 and had spells on loan at Featherstone Rovers early in his career, but all his 127 Betfred Super League games have been for Rhinos. He is set to replace Hull centre Arthur Romano who could be sidelined for up to three months after suffering an ankle injury against Hull KR on Good Friday.

Newman will leave Leeds at the end of this season to begin a two-year contract at new NRL outfit Perth Bears. Rhinos coach Brad Arthur is due to talk to the media at his weekly preview press conference later today.
