Top try scorer Maika Sivo has confirmed he is ready to make Leeds Rhinos return.

Sivo touched down 31 times in 20 games - 29 of his tries coming from 19 Betfred Super League matches - before suffering a broken arm against Bradford Bulls on July 26.

The injury denied Sivo an opportunity to break Castleford Tigers winger Denny Solomona’s 10-year-old record of 40 tries in a Betfred Super League season, but he’s returning at a crucial time in the campaign. “I will be back this week,” Sivo confirmed. “It has been five weeks and I am looking forward to it and another home game.

“I just needed another week to tick all the boxes. I have been training for about three weeks now and I am feeling good. I have done a few contact sessions and it’s all good.”

Sivo missed the whole of last season, his first at Leeds, with an anterior cruciate knee ligament injury. He admitted the new layoff was “frustrating”, but stressed: “It is what it is, it is part of the game. You have to move on and keep working hard and that’s what I did. I am looking forward to this week - it’s one game and then a week off into the semi-finals, my body is feeling good and I am ready to go.”
