BBC to air Sir Kevin Sinfield documentary after fundraising heroics as Prince William leads tributes

A new documentary celebrating the fundraising efforts of Sir Kevin Sinfield will air on the BBC next week.

The Leeds Rhinos legend has raised over £13 million for Motor Neurone Disease since 2020, having worked closely with ex-teammate Rob Burrow CBE following his diagnosis in December 2019.

Completing seven gruelling running challenges for the past seven years, Sir Kevin has not only helped to raise funds for MND research, but has brought national awareness to the cruel disease.

Sinfield has set his sights on Australia and New Zealand for his next challenge, though no official plan has been finalised just yet.

As a result of all his charitable heroics, the BBC have put together a 28-minute documentary that will celebrate all of the 46-year-old's success. The piece will air on Monday 26th October at 8pm on BBC One, with His Royal Highness Prince William leading the tributes.

Made by BBC Breakfast, which has followed Burrow and Sinfield's journey since Burrow's diagnosis, the touching documentary will reflect on what has driven Sinfield to do what he has, as well as revealing parts of his childhood and introduction to sport.

Fellow MND trailblazers Lewis Moody (Former England rugby union captain) and Marcus Stewart (ex-Premier League footballer) will also appear in the short film, whilst Lindsay Burrow, Rob’s wife, is another to be interviewed about Sir Kevin's story.

The documentary also features some of those living with MND and reveals how he has changed awareness. More than 5,000 people are living with the disease in the UK at any one time, and many of them and their families have supported Sinfield’s challenges.
