Leeds rugby league club aim to send legend out on a high: Hunslet farewell for long-serving star

Hunslet RLFC are keen to send club legend Jimmy Watson out on a high.

The long-serving full-back will hang up his boots after Hunslet complete their Betfred Championship campaign at home to Rochdale Hornets tomorrow (Sunday, 3pm). It is also French forward Kevin Larroyer’s final game and coach Kyle Trout reckons that’s an incentive for a big performance.

“Jimmy’s playing well,” Trout said. “He’s an emotional leader and is at the heart of the club. Kevin has been disappointed to miss a lot of the season due to injury, but has been aggressive and hard to handle in recent matches.”

Trout insisted: “We want to beat Rochdale. They have many reasons to come here and give it a go; they will have a bee in their bonnet about the game earlier in the season and with

ex-coaches and players from Hunslet they’ll need no motivation.

“They had a good win in midweek at Dewsbury, but we are confident after recent performances. If we compete and be aggressive, we have a strong 21 good enough to win it”.

Billy Jowitt comes back into contention after injury and Lee Gaskell will make the 300th appearance of his career. Mackenzie Turner, Liam Carr and Dan Abram are unlikely to be fit and on-loan Castleford Tigers hooker Aiden Doolan will spend the remainder of this season with Widnes Vikings.
