Leeds rugby league game abandoned after referee injured
An injury to the referee caused a community rugby league game in Leeds to be abandoned at half-time.
Oulton Raiders were trailing 18-6 to Leigh Miners in National League Division One when match official Peter Smith, of the Armed Forces referees’ society, called a halt after suffering a calf muscle problem. He is now recovering and the game will be rearranged as competition regulations state 60 minutes must have been played for the result to stand. Joe Horan scored Raiders’ try, improved by Archie Craggs.
Stanningley looked on course for a comfortable home win in the same division when they led bottom club Pilkington Recs 18-6 with 10 minutes remaining, but then the wheels came off and they were beaten 22-18. Will Barker, Jack Hepworth and Alfie Peach scored Stanningley’s tries, all converted by Zack Clayton.

A try by Logan Roberts was all East Leeds’ only consolation in a 62-4 hammering at table-topping Kells. Easts trailed 22-4 at half-time.
In the Premier Division, second-placed Hunslet ARLFC are now four points adrift of leaders West Hull following a 28-8 home defeat by Waterhead Warriors. Jaden Barraclough scored a try and Jordan Gale kicked two penalties for Hunslet, who had won their previous four games.
