Statement due 'today' as Castleford Tigers set to settle coach Ryan Carr situation

The uncertainty over Castleford Tigers’ coaching situation could be settled today (Friday).

Team boss Ryan Carr has been away from the club for two weeks for what the club say are “personal reasons”. Director of rugby Chris Chester took this morning’s press conference ahead of tomorrow’s visit to St Helens and said “a statement” is due today.

Chester said: “I think there’s going to be an update. The club are going to put a statement out today at some point and everything will be finalised there. We don’t want to keep dragging it on. There will be a statement today and then we’ll focus on tomorrow’s big games against St Helens.”

Chester insisted he is “none the wiser” as to what the statement will reveal. He said: “My job is to focus on getting these guys ready for tomorrow. It has been a real positive week.”

Carr joined Tigers last autumn and is expected to leave the club less than a full season into a three-year deal.
